Polaroid Photo Collage Maker
A polaroid collage imitates prints tossed on a table: white borders, a thicker strip at the bottom, and each print rotated a few degrees. The tilt is what sells it. Perfectly aligned white-bordered photos look like a contact sheet, not a pile of prints.
The Instant Pile style tilts each print by a small random amount and overlaps them slightly, but the arrangement is seeded — the same set of photos always produces the same layout, so you are not fighting a shuffle every time you change a setting.
Worth knowing: the effect depends far more on the shadow and the tilt than on the border itself. A white border with no shadow looks like a print-out; a white border with a soft shadow and a few degrees of rotation looks like a photograph lying on a table.

Recommended canvas size
1080 × 1080 px (square)
A square gives the pile room to spread in both directions. On a tall canvas the prints stack into a column and the scattered effect is lost.
How to make it
- Upload five to nine photos Too few and it does not read as a pile; too many and they cover each other.
- Open the Styles tab and tap Instant Pile It applies polaroid borders on a light grey gradient and scatters the prints.
- Reorder the stack Which print sits on top matters. Use the Layers panel to move your best photo to the top of the pile.
- Add handwriting A short caption in Dancing Script on the white strip under a print completes the effect. Keep it to two or three words.
- Export Ultra HD PNG.
Tips that actually change the result
- Real polaroids have a thicker bottom border than the other three sides — that is what the caption strip is for. Leave it empty on most prints and write on only one or two.
- A soft drop shadow under each print, set from the Layers panel, is what makes them look like they are lying on a surface rather than pasted flat.
- Keep the tilt small. Beyond about ten degrees it stops looking casual and starts looking broken.
What usually goes wrong
Zero rotation turns the pile into a contact sheet. A few degrees on each print is what makes it read as casual.
Real piles have writing on one or two. Captioning all of them looks like a filing system.
Without it the prints look pasted flat rather than resting on a surface. Add a soft shadow from the Layers panel.
Beyond roughly ten degrees it stops looking relaxed and starts looking broken.
Questions
How do I get the white polaroid border?
It is the Polaroid option in the Photo Borders panel. The Instant Pile style applies it automatically, but you can set it on any layout.
Can I write on the white strip like a real polaroid?
Yes — add a text layer and position it over the strip. Dancing Script is the closest to handwriting among the built-in fonts.
Why do my prints not overlap?
With very few photos the pile spreads out rather than stacking. Add more photos, or drag them together manually — they stay wherever you put them.
