Raksha Bandhan Photo Collage Maker

Rakhi photographs follow a predictable sequence — the thali, tying the thread, the tilak, the sweets, the gift. One of those is always the shot, and the rest are supporting. That is why the Rakhi template uses a hero layout rather than an even grid: one large photo carries the moment and the others sit beside it.

The background is a soft rose gradient with a deep pink border, chosen because rakhi threads and traditional clothing are usually red, orange and gold. A cool or blue background makes those colours look muddy.

If you are making this for a sibling who lives elsewhere, consider printing it rather than only sending the file. A 4:5 collage scales cleanly to A4, and the 300 DPI PDF export is the format a print shop will ask for.

Recommended canvas size

1080 × 1350 px (4:5 portrait)

4:5 is the tallest shape Instagram shows in full without cropping, so it takes up more feed space than a square. It also matches how most rakhi photos are shot — vertically, on a phone.

How to make it

  1. Upload your rakhi photos Four to six is ideal for the hero layout — one large plus three to five smaller.
  2. Choose Rakhi from the Festivals tab It sets a 4:5 canvas, the rose gradient, a red border and the "Happy Raksha Bandhan" headline.
  3. Put the best photo in the hero slot The hero is the large cell on the left. Drag your strongest photo there, or reorder in the Layers panel.
  4. Personalise the text Replace the headline with your brother's or sister's name. Dancing Script keeps the handwritten feel.
  5. Download Export Ultra HD for sharing, or the 300 DPI PDF to print and post.

Tips that actually change the result

What usually goes wrong

Using an even grid

An even grid gives the plate of sweets exactly the same visual weight as the moment the rakhi is tied. The hero layout exists precisely to avoid that.

Choosing a script font for Hindi text

Great Vibes, Pacifico and Dancing Script are Latin-only. Devanagari typed into them falls back to a system font and the collage suddenly has two unrelated typefaces.

Letting Fill crop the heads

Vertical phone photos in a wide cell lose the top of the frame. Switch that photo to Fit, or use Crop to recentre before the layout runs.

Leaving the default headline

"Happy Raksha Bandhan" with a name added takes ten seconds and is the difference between a template and something personal.

Questions

Can I write the name in Hindi on a rakhi collage?

Yes — add a text layer and type in Devanagari, then choose Modern Sans. The script fonts are Latin-only and will not render Hindi.

What is the best layout for rakhi photos?

A hero layout. The tilak or thread-tying photo is almost always the one that matters, and an even grid gives it the same weight as a photo of the sweets.

Can I add a video?

No — the editor produces still images (PNG and PDF). For a video you would need to import the exported collage into a video app.
